About Eada

Hi, I’m Eada! (pronounced E-Duh) I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder of Morning Bird Therapy. I am passionate about helping adults and teens heal their relationship with mind, body, food, and exercise.

For many years I silently battled my own eating disorder. I didn’t feel like others would understand what I was going through, so I kept it a secret and suffered alone. When I started to realize that I was losing the things I love most, I finally chose to ask for help, and it was the best decision I ever made (even though it was really scary!)

I do this work because I’ve been there- and I believe that a better life is possible.

I have worked in the mental health field since 2018 in hospitals, schools, private practice, and all levels of eating disorder care. Although I specialize in working with food and body, I love to work with other intersecting concerns like anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, life transitions, and more. I also love working with athletes and students.

I am currently accepting clients ages 14 and up. I am happy to meet with you virtually, but I have to say, meeting with clients face-to-face is my favorite!

When I am not working, you can find me baking, hiking, reading, writing, skiing, and watching reality TV. I try to spend as much time outside as I possibly can, often with my dog Junie B by my side.

Education & Licensure - I graduated from the University of Puget Sound in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in both Psychology and Spanish. I graduated with my Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from the University of Denver in 2022. My licensed professional counselor ID is LPC.0020769.

Therapy Approach

My approach to therapy is honest, collaborative, and warm. I love to dig deep into perfectionism and people-pleasing behaviors and challenge my clients to think outside the box. I am certified in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), but also incorporate self-compassion, humanistic approaches, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) into my practice. I have found that my lived experience gives me a level of understanding and empathy that my clients really appreciate.

I am committed to tailoring my therapy practice to each individual client because I understand that what works for one person may not work for another. Above all, I want to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore whatever YOU want to explore.

In session with me, you can expect to learn real coping skills, tools, strategies, and plans so that you can live your fullest life and work towards self-acceptance. I expect my clients to work hard during session and outside of session, and I am dedicated to doing the same. When you work with me, we are a team!

The nitty gritty of my approach to working with eating disorders - I embrace Health at Every Size and Anti-Diet ideologies both personally and professionally. I deeply value autonomy and do not shy away from harm reduction approaches if they are appropriate for you. I am an advocate for intuitive eating but I respect if it doesn’t work for you.

If these buzzy words don’t mean anything to you - that’s okay! Just know that I will do my very best to meet you where you’re at, whether you are working on improving poor body image, challenging fear foods, curbing negative self talk, or don’t even know where to begin but just want to feel a little better.

I know that finding the right fit can be hard when it comes to therapists, which is why I offer a free, 15-minute consultation to see if we are a match. If not - no worries! I’ve got plenty of referrals for other great providers. If you are interested in booking a consultation, click here.

Access to Services

Meet Virtually or In Person

Since the pandemic, it has become extremely difficult to find a therapist to meet with in person. This is why I prioritize meeting with clients face-to-face at my office in Denver. Do you prefer to meet virtually? Don’t worry, I got you! I also offer telehealth therapy to anybody located in Colorado. If you are interested in a mix of virtual sessions and in-person sessions, I’m your girl!

Insurance & Fees

I am passionate about making therapy more accessible. For this reason, I am currently in network with several insurance companies. I also offer sliding scale payment options and out of network benefits. My standard out-of-pocket fee is $150 for a 55-60 minute session, but if this doesn’t feel doable for you, I offer other affordable options. Reach out to me to see if you may qualify!

Evening Availability

Another step that I have taken to improve access to therapy is to offer sessions outside of standard working hours- 5pm, 6pm, and 7pm sessions are available Monday through Thursday at Morning Bird. These spots are limited, but it is important to me to make these times an option for those who need it.

Please note - my practice is affirming of all people and all identities. Individuals of all sizes, races, genders, abilities, ethnicities, and religions are welcome. I will do my very best to honor exactly who you are.
